About us

We are a Zimbabwean national non-profit making organisation. We promote local leadership to ensure communities are the main actors in their own development process.

We have been involved in a variety of projects in recent years and undertake a range of work including community capacity building, local energy provision and community transport. Currently we host the Community Action project, we have managed and administered the LEADER programme in Zimbabwe.

The Rural School and Community part of RUDAT addresses the crucial relationship between good schools and thriving communities. Working in some of the poorest, most challenging places, the Rural Trust involves young people in learning linked to their communities, improves the quality of teaching and school leadership, and advocates in a variety of ways for appropriate state educational policies, including the key issue of equitable and adequate funding for rural schools.

Support communities in their efforts to alleviate poverty through providing financial and technical support to community-based, demand driven and sustainable initiatives that reduce poverty, create socio-economic advancement, conserve biodiversity, and improve ecological stability and environmental management.
